Dear Parents,
What a great Graduation ceremony Friday night for our Gr. 8's. The mass was wonderful and the ceremony and party afterwards were uplifting and much fun for our amazing Gr. 8's! We wish them well next year in High School.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the honour and privilege of educating your children over the past 6 years. As some of you may have heard, I have been asked by the Board to take on an assignment at a school in Barrie, starting next year. The request did not come as complete surprise to me as it is normal to reassign school administrators after 5-7 years. I did have a discussion about the move with my superiors and believe it is a good decision for the board on the whole and the schools involved as well. As Fr. Josh said at the Graduation Mass last night, change, although difficult, can also be rejuvenating and strengthening. Although I will definitely miss all of the staff, students and parents of this great school, I do understand how the move can be a good one for all. I would like to welcome to SJB the new Principal, starting this fall, Mrs. Melanie Barkell. I was very happy to hear of her appointment as I know her as a committed educator who shows compassion, ability, organization and dedication to students, teachers, families and Catholic Education. She met with our Parent Council this past week and she and I will be working together to make the transition as seamless and productive as possible. I'm sure she will be blessed with the support and kindness I have had from this wonderful community.
Finally I want to thank you all for your support and kindness over the past 6 years. SJB was where I started my teaching career back in 1989 and it has been wonderful to be part of this amazing community as the principal. It will always be a place near and dear to my heart! God Bless and Keep you all!
Yours in faith,
James Murphy
