Dear Parents,
This week begins with our Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day was celebrated in Canada this past Saturday. It is a day to educate the public and facilitate reconciliation for the aboriginal peoples of our nation who suffered the residential school experience. It also proclaims that every child matters. SJB's participation in this social justice initiative will be celebrated as we wear our orange shirts on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017.
Walk and Wheel Wednesday is on again. On Wed. Oct. 4, we are promoting healthy ways to get to school that do not involve an armada of fuel powered vehicles. Walk, bike, push scooter or skateboard; they are all excellent ways to get to school in a healthy way. Mr. Peter Dykie, our Town Councillor, is arranging a draw for a new bike and bike helmets, available to all participants. Even bus students are included because they can walk to and from their bus stop. Looking forward to the event, and hopefully students can make that their regular practice for getting to school.
